Appellations of origin

A protected appellation of origin is granted to products of which the production, processing and preparation take place within a specific geographic region and according to a recognised and controlled method.

Production and origin are controlled, so that the consumer knows what he is buying and where it comes from. The European Union provides the products with logos that increase recognition of the products and guarantee authenticity.

Protected appellations of origin are generally granted to exclusive products of high quality.
